iPhone 15 Pro Max – Should You Go Case-Less?

If you want to use you’re iPhone 15 Pro Max without a cover, then I recommend that you get some kind of insurance program. But if you don’t want to worry at all and want to keep your phone in pristine, perfect condition, then I would personally recommend using a case on your iPhone 15 Pro Max.

If you just bought a new iPhone 15 Pro Max, you’re probably wondering, "Do I need to get a case for my phone?" The main reason for this is how the iPhone 15 Pro Max feels in your hand. You don’t want to add extra accessories, bulk, or cases because the phone feels so good in your hand. It just feels so good—so clean, so minimal, so thin. When you add a case, it kind of destroys all of that, especially the thinness and the feel of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of phone cases unless I need one for hiking or something outdoorsy. But most of the time, I really just don’t like to add extra accessories or bulk onto my iPhone 15 Pro Max.

If you take a look at the iPhone 15 Pro Max, you will quickly notice that it looks different from the previous iPhone models. The first difference you’ll notice is the material. The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a titanium frame, which is more durable than the previous stainless steel material. It also holds up with scratches very, very well.

At a time like this with the iPhone 14 Pro’s stainless steel, there were so many scratches on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It was actually unbelievable how many scratches I had on it after just a few months of use. Most of the time, I would rock it caseless or have a slim case on it, or a more protective case if I was going hiking or something like that. But for the most part, I would have the phone caseless, and there were just so many scratches—it was so hard to see. But this year, with the new titanium, scratches don’t really show up on my iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I have the silver iPhone 15 Pro Max, and there’s no coating or anything like that on this model. However, if you have the darker colors like black or blue titanium, that’s something you might have to worry about because there is a coating added to that titanium material. So, with those, it’s more prone to scratches than the silver or natural titanium colorways. I would guess most people probably have the natural titanium just because it’s the brand new color, and everyone wants to get the brand new color. But if you’re one of those who have the black or blue titanium, I would actually be pretty cautious. Even on the first day the iPhone came out, people were noticing scratches and stuff like that on the black and blue colorway. So, with those, it’s kind of a different story. But for my personal one with the silver or natural titanium color, scratches don’t really show up on this material like they did with the previous stainless steel material.

The next thing I want to discuss is the design of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, actually pretty much every iPhone 15. Basically, Apple curved the glass and the entire body of the iPhone 15 series. This makes it a little more prone to getting your screen cracked compared to the previous iPhone 14 series, which had a more boxy design and completely flat glass. With this one, the glass is slightly curved, and this applies to every iPhone 15 model, making them more prone to getting cracks from even mild drops.

With all those new design changes on the iPhone 15 series, it is kind of scary rocking your phone caseless, especially with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, given that new price tag of twelve hundred dollars. But if you’re someone who doesn’t drop their phone much and hasn’t had many instances of a broken phone, I would say you’re probably OK to go caseless with iPhone 15 Pro Max if you want to keep your phone in pristine condition but still want that caseless feel.

I recommend the cases from TAC. They basically don’t feel like you have a case on your phone, and they also have clickable buttons, which I really like. Personally, if I’m using a case, even if it’s a thin one, I want the buttons to be super clickable and easy to press. Especially if you have the black or blue iPhone 15 Pro Max, like I mentioned earlier, those are way more prone to getting visible scratches. So, if you want to avoid that, I would recommend these cases because they will protect your sides from getting scratched while still giving you that caseless-like feel.

If you’re someone who drops their phone a lot and has experience with cracked screens, I recommend getting insurance or some kind of protection plan for your iPhone. Personally, when I get a new iPhone, I do review cases and try them out throughout the year, but most of the time I usually have a thin case or no case at all on my iPhone, and I use it like that. I just like the form factor, the feel, and how the phone looks with no case or a thin case on it.

That’s why, personally, I like to have some kind of insurance program. Just in case my phone breaks, it’s going to be a small deductible of $29 or something like that, versus the whopping $329 it would cost to fix the front screen on an iPhone 15 Pro Max. That’s the main reason why I like to have some kind of insurance or protection program—because if I didn’t have that, I would have to pay insane repair prices to get my phone fixed, and that’s just not worth it.

This phone is expensive, and you want to keep it in good condition. However, if you’re someone who loves the design and the feel of the phone without a case, then you should go for it—but make sure to have some kind of insurance program to back you up.
